Description
I created this pouch where you can put your objects from an old Japanese kimono. I really like his tones, his drawings – between leaf patterns like coffee beans; heart-shaped petals (the small white and purple/parmes) – It is very light – Made of Ro silk (fabric used for summer kimonos). I work with preloved Japanese kimonos – Kimonos that have been worn to which I give another life. I like the idea of the story going on. Travelling fabrics, unique objects for multiple uses. It’s up to you to write the rest of the story! Bon voyage (◡‿◡✿).
This object keeps its volume: by a system of folds, the empty pencil case is held “upright” (you can see it on one of the photos). You can put a thousand objects in it, really what you like (jewelry, tea bags, scrunchies and other accessories, phone jack, make-up, etc.) Non-fragile fabric – Hand wash
I work with old kimonos, which have been worn. This is the beginning of a second life for them. Being worn has deformed, stretched, torn, worn them out. So I work with a material that is less “stable” than a new fabric, which, telling a thousand stories, is distended, perforated in places, stained in others. First I dismantle and unstitch each kimono. I wash the collected strips of fabric and then inspect the holes, wear and other souvenirs. I use the pieces that are free enough from these memories and rich from so many others to create my pieces.
